What the job actually is
Agentic systems, not chat widgets
You will build tool-using agents that read an enquiry, plan the work, call the right systems and verify the result before anything reaches a customer.
Full stack, real ownership
TypeScript end to end — React and TanStack on the front, server functions, Postgres and queues behind. You ship the feature and you own it in production.
Evaluation as a first-class job
Every action type gets an eval set, confidence thresholds and regression checks. Accuracy work matters here as much as feature work.
Full-Stack AI Engineer
You will be the third engineer on the product, reporting straight to the founder, with real say over architecture and roadmap.
What you'll do
- Design and ship agent workflows that turn WhatsApp, email and chatbot enquiries into completed quotes, bookings and invoices.
- Build and maintain integrations with accounting tools, CRMs, calendars and payment providers.
- Own prompt architecture, retrieval over customer rate cards and documents, and structured tool-calling schemas.
- Build evaluation harnesses and confidence thresholds so uncertain cases escalate to a human instead of guessing.
- Work directly with customers during onboarding to tune tone, pricing rules and autonomy levels.
- Keep the audit trail complete — every action logged, exportable and reversible.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years building production web applications in TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, structured outputs and tool or function calling.
- Comfortable with Postgres, background jobs and third-party API integration.
- A habit of measuring output quality rather than trusting a demo.
- Clear written communication — you will talk to customers, not just to code.
Nice to have
- Retrieval-augmented generation over messy customer documents.
- WhatsApp Business Platform, email infrastructure or telephony APIs.
- Experience in an early-stage team where scope is decided, not handed over.
